ABOUT ROOT

Root is an independent restaurant group based in the south-west of England. Each restaurant offers a modern, vegetable led, sharing plates style menu, with a focus on seasonal and local produce.

The first restaurant is located on the banks of Bristol’s historic harbour in Wapping Wharf. Opening in 2017, owners Josh Eggleton (The Pony) and Luke Hasell (The Story Farms / Valleyfest) wanted to create a forward-thinking restaurant that championed local suppliers and producers, and led with a ‘more veg, less meat’ ethos.

After the success of Root, Bristol, Executive Chef Rob Howell and his wife and Group Manager Meg Oakley wanted to bring a neighbourhood restaurant to their home in Somerset.

Root, Wells was the second site which opened the winter of 2022, and quickly the team realised it needed to have a slightly different menu and feel to the Bristol restaurant.

We have now been offered an exciting opportunity to join Milsom Place in Bath. The site, previously belonging to Jamie Oliver’s; Jamie’s Italian, will allow the Root team to create a new menu from it’s extensive collection of dishes created over the last 8 years.

Root is heavily influenced by our suppliers and producers, we work closely with them and the seasons, using what is available locally throughout the year. We will continue to root this philosophy in this third restaurant.
